This is the reason for Paddington's floppy ears. She is not "large" in my opinion. She weighs 8 lbs (pre-pregnancy), but her ears flop because her breeder did not shave the ears of the litter Paddy was in. The story she gave was she was in the hospital at the time this was needed and her grandson was suppose to help out. All the adult yorkies in this breeder's program had their ears up. I just wish I had been better educated at that time or that this breeder would have been more informational about this technique. Had I known all I had to do was shave the excess hair, I'm certain Paddy's ears would be erect. But, as I'm sure all floppy-ear owners feel, I wouldn't trade her for anything and find her adorable!

I'm just proud to say that lesson learned and, with a little bit of shaving, all of Paddy's puppies have erect ears!
