It's not a new feature, and it's not limited to google. Reverse lookup does the same thing. Matter of fact, you can go to your library and use an actual reverse lookup phone book. The internet has just saved you a trip is all.
You can also just google a name and a state. If your address is listed in your local phone book...the information is going to show up because the information is culled from telephone directories. Have the address, then it's easy to get directions from mapquest.
