Coat texture is a not a pure guessing game. If you have a line of silk, you get silk..most have a bit of soft here and there in the line, but for the most part texture is not a surprise when that parents/grandparents are silk.

If you have a silk sire and soft dam etc...then you are have a longer wait to determine...
Look at the parents coat..and it is great if you can see the grandparents also/look at the pedigree..that will give you an idea what you are dealing with..

I have never seen a glowing, green eye on a soft coat..
