Oxytocin is a hormone produced by the pituitary gland. A shot is recommended by most vets after whelping to casue the uterus to contract and expell any retained placenta/afterbirth etc...it must be adminstered by a knowledgable breeder or vet.
I wash the bins outside, weather permitting (since I moved to Florida the weather is always permitting) I use a disinfectant like Lysol, Mr Clean..rinse well and let them dry in the sun...or you can towel them dry..make sure to rinse well..sometimes the moms will lay up against the box and get it a bit messy..so I use Baby Wipes to clean the inside when it happens.. |
