Embarassed Choke collars aren't really safe for Yorkies no matter how you use 'em.

Until they're adults and they've had enough training that they need minimal corrections.
I use a prong collar on my little ones personally when working in Obedience and doing tricks. Then we move to choke collars and then to a buckle collar or nothing at all and they respond just as well as if they were on the prong collar.
And before I get those "Oh, prong collars are terrible" comments, please save yourself the breath. You don't know what you're talking about.

I'm glad you walked out. I hope you call her and let her know just what it is that you disagreed w/ so she can decide how to better herself and/or her training.
