Hprush - You have kind of painted yourself into a corner.

1) You don't want to take your dog with you.
2) You can't or would rather not leave him with friends.
3) You don't want to board him.

I can't think of any other options.

I personally think some boarding kennels are very nice. Call a few vet's offices and get some recommendations, if you decide to consider this. In a good kennel, your pup is well taken care of, is well fed - and "yes" does get some pesonalized attention every day. But, of course, it's not like being at home. Nevertheless, most pups (dogs) are none the worse for this experience and are happy happy happy when their owners return and things get back to normal.

Boarding (at a good facility) can be expensive, but If I could afford a well-recommended kennel - I would certainly feel comfortable leaving one of my dogs there.
