Leaving in conditioner isn't a good idea-especially depending on the product-if he already has itchy skin. Over supplementing can cause problems too more than it can solving them.
I'd just be sure to use a soap free shampoo that isn't laden w/ perfume and dies. That'll be a huge start in helping him out.
Also try not to use a waxy conditioner that is thick and heavy. That is only making it seem like it's helping when it's quite the opposite.
You should find a light, creamy conditioner that you can use on your kid that is also not laden w/ perfumes and dyes.
I don't use it on most of my show dogs, but Tropiclean has been a great shampoo for me! Just an idea.
