oh my goodness, this sounds oh to familar! My Christy is 6 months now and weighs 3.5 pds. But when I got her she was 8 weeks and 1.3 pounds and from what I've read since then to young for me to be taking her.
We spent Dec and Jan at the vet and back to the breeder. I could not keep her blood sugar under control. It was such an upseting time. We did not want another puppy, we only wanted her. We spent about $800.00 on blood work, emergency vet, x-rays. And after all that the vet said it could be a thousand things. We gave her water gatorade, pedilite, honey, karo syrup (by drop[per) Force fed her baby food, canned milk, puppy food, prescribtion food and of cource nutrical. Still could not get it together. In mid Jan the breeder took her for a 2 weeks (we were so sad). The breeder kept her under a heat lamp and did nutrical and force feed her chic mixed with broth.
Well it did the trick! We got her back and fed her boiled chic mixed with liver sausage and pedialite for the first week and she was realy coming around, and by the second week we started her on hard food and reg water and she did great! And still doing great!
I hope something in here helps. I did not know about this web site while I was going through this and thought I was the only one going through this. But with the small ones comes this problem a lot of the time from what I have read.
Good luck, and if you have any questions let me know.
Jeanne
Also the vet kept her on an antibotic for Dec and Jan. |
