I don't crate mine, believe it or not. We tried with out first one, Maxx. He cried and cried. And it made us cry and cry! After the 4th night, I took him out and put him in bed with us and he never cried again. Now we have Evey and our new baby Rocco. They all three sleep with us but that is our preference. Now Rocco, the baby, he will lay near the edge of the bed at night and cry and he is almost 9 months old now! We figured out that he could hear our girls (our human ones
) at night in the house and he wanted to be out there with them (they are 18 and 20 yrs old).
We love our community bed. When we first got Maxx, my husband NO WAY! The dog is NOT sleeping with us- now here we are 6 years later and 2 more yorkies and I would not have it any other way!
But, the gal who told you to wear the t-shirt and put a stuffed animal in the crate? That's a GREAT idea. The baby will smell you and be able to cuddle with something if crating is what you've decided.
