 Crying
I got my yorkie at 8 weeks and he only cried the first 4 nights and not longer than 15 minutes each time (approx 5 times a night). I've had him 6 weeks now and he still usually barks and cries for at least 5 minutes when I first put him in but he doesn't make a peep after that until he hears my alarm clock go off in the morning. Once he hears that he barks until I come to get him.
Is your puppy in a different area during the day? I used a kiddie swimming pool for the first 4 weeks so he would have more room to run around in during the day and be good and worn out for bedtime. I put his bed, toys and food on one end and the pee pad on the other. It worked great and kept him safe. When my puppy has had a very busy day he will be so tired he doesn't cry at all when crated for the night.
Puppies all have different personalities just like kids and maybe your little baby just needs you more. I think the shirt idea sounds great. My breeder also suggested an old sock filled with rice and microwaved to keep him warm at night.
