I think it's wonderful that you want to get a pet.

And - it's smart of you to consider getting an older dog rather than deal with a new little pup --especially since you are single and work.

Hopefully, a lot of people here won't scream at me. But, sometimes finding an older dog looking for a home is more difficult than finding a puppy....and when you start looking - it might be good to look at other small breeds as well as Yorkies. This might give you a better chance at finding an older dog. I have so many friends with dashunds, maltese, and other small breeds that totally love them to death.... They are wonderful pets too.

Anyway - look for your Yorkie -- but just "peek" at some others also.

I had a PoodlePom mix that was my favorite dog ever. Now I have two wonderful pets..... a Bichon and a Yorkie. If you don't mind going to a groomer once a month or once every six weeks, a Bichon is a wonderful little dog....the friendliest in the world. And, we all know that Yorkies are great.

I wish you the best of luck.
