Default Vets

Let me tell you the vets are such a rip off that it's not funny. I called my vet for an estimate of the neutering again. The last time they told me about $150 which sounded rather cheap to me but I figured hey whatever. I had referred them to someone else to use as well (hope she called ahead and got an estimate). Well I called back to check on scheduling possibilities and asked for the break down again and it practically doubled without any teeth pulling.

I was now told (here is the break down on fees):

$35 for the initial blood work
$159 for the actual surgery
$30 for the take home drugs
$89 more or less for the anesthesia, victorian collar and the iv & catheter if necessary (determined by size of the dog)

So when I am ready I will either use the friends of animals (www.friendsofanimals.org) or muffins (www.muffins.org) spay or neuter cert and get it done at this other local vet's office that I know is good but pricey.

The cert is either $52 (muffins) or $54 (FOA) and you pay some other incidental charges which will be an average of $100. So all in all this way it's between $152- $154.

The certs cover the Exam, Surgery and Anesthesia. The incidentals will be the blood test, pain management and the catheter and iv if necessary.

Well piss on my regular vet's office. I am not rich. I mean come on I can't see why they have to charge so much money. Not llike they don't run us into the ground with the annual stuff anyhow.
