My bf and I do not have kids, but we refer to Lola as our daughter. We say Mommy and Daddy. Also at night, when I wake up I always ask "Where is the baby?" I just need to check on her to make sure she is not under the covers. I think it is perfectly acceptable to call your dogs babies.
