Default Dosage: Childrens Benadryl

The vet prescribed children's liquid benadryl for Chai and she said to give her 1 ml for every 1 lb so we are giving her a little over 2 mls three times a day. That seems like a lot to me because the botle says a 6 yr old chld shold get 1 teaspoon! The size difference between my 2 lb yorkie and a six year old human is huge and I was wondering if there is any risk to giving her too much if we are wrong.

Also, she really HATES it and it's so hard to get it in her with the syringe! It's amazing how strong she is and how she squirms to make it impossible. It gets all over everything and that's with three people working together! Does anyone have tips for something to put it in or how to administer it or if there is a flavor they like. We have grape. Has anyone tried the pills? The vet felt it would be hard to get the right dosage with pills because it would be hard to break them up properly.

Anyone?
