Poor little Raisin. According to my vet, many vets do not use pain medication of any kind (other than the general anesthesia). Vets that do pre-operative blood work and provide pain meds following the procedures are more expensive, but definitely worth the extra TLC. Imagine having a hysterectomy and not getting any pain meds following the surgery. Humans would never stand for that and our pets shouldn't have to suffer either!! No one can tell me they hurt any less than we would. Better vets will also keep little ones overnight for observation due to their extra-small size.

They do bounce back very quickly so you should see normal activities resume quickly. If she continues to wimper today, I would call the vet immediately and ask for pain medication. The incision may be lumpy, but as it heals should smooth out. Watch for any redness or swelling.

Good luck to you both.
