The voice box is not actually removed, they cauterize the vocal cords to debark..it is not limited to show breeders...infact I have meet very few who have done this to their dogs. I knew a Maltese breeder and a Westie breeder who did this..neither showed.
Most show dogs do not bark because they are so used to the commotion...
