Cup Check This Out...

Okay, I don't believe that: "A Child who grows up being hit, learns it's ok to hit...". Not at all. There are extremes in which a child can be abused and then yeah, sure. But it seems like we're talking about the old addage "It takes a community to raise a child.". What happened? Well, what happened is when spanking was originally proposed into schools, the QUALITY of teachers was much better than today. I'm not saying that "what" we taught was better back then, just our teachers themselves were! It was expensive to become a teacher and the demand wasn't the same then as it is now. Now any nut job can become a teacher! So, do I want a nut job spanking "my" kid? He** no! However, I if I know this teacher (and I like to think that I'd be involved enough in my child's life to know his/her teachers quite well) then SPANK AWAY AS NEEDED! If I'd do it at home and I have some help to raise my child when I can't be there and some form of punishment is agreed on, green light=GO!

I was spanked as a child and ya know what? It sucked, and my parents never took it too far. They were firm, but fair and remembered to PRAISE me when I was right. THAT is most important to rearing a child I think. Being involved, know who is teaching them (other than you) and remember that it takes a community to raise a well rounded child. imo
By the way, I have 0 kids! lol, all mine are the four legged kind. And YES I would allow someone else to correct my dog if I knew that their tactics were like mine and they knew how to be firm but FAIR. (I have the luxury of taking them everywhere I go though so...)
