It's amazing how smart they are...they will remember different names for their toys, I find, if you keep the name short and sweet and repeat the name frequently whenever your pup is playing with it. Topher has bunny, rabbit, ring, bone, rope and after working with him for a few weeks he knows bunny and bone...he's not fetching them yet, but that will come with time, I hope!

My kids love to take an afternoon and try to teach him something new. It was my 16 year old who taught him to sit and she accomplished that in about 5 minutes with his favorite treats.
These guys are pretty smart and I find they LOVE to learn. It keeps them busy and out of trouble!!lol

As far as treats go, after a while they'll love to do the trick (or whatever) without worrying about the treat...they love the praise more than anything. When Topher knows he's done something right he dances around so proud of himself....of course he's probably just reacting to my excitement, but it is cute.
