None of this shocks me in the least. I made the comment on here one time about Yorkies costing so much and I was told that the breeders don't make that much off the pups after all of the care. I live in Virginia and this is for the most part the norm. The moms are USUALLY 5 pounds or over. The studs are always small. The pups around here are going from 900 up to 2000. Most are about 1000-1500 tho. They have no problem telling you that the smaller the pup the more they will cost. But lets be real. It is obvious that someone is buying these pups. Don't include me tho. I got Diesel for 700. I thought that was a bit high but when I saw his face I couldn't resist. Yeah I think she is putting her dogs in danger by breeding them so small. But it is common practice in some areas. Sad but true. I was told before I got to the ladies house that Diesel's mom and dad were both over 5 pounds. Of course after I got there and got hooked I then saw the mom and dad. Wow. The dad was 4.5 pounds and the mom prob down to 4.5 to 5 pounds. She only weighed 5.5 pounds while she was pregnant. So far he is doing just fine. He is 8 months and is 4.5 pounds I wouldn't want him any smaller. |
