How old is your pup? Your kitchen area situation sounds exactly like what I have for my pup.

But - My pup is a little over 7 months old now - and for the past week or two - I can't believe it - but he's not even going to the bathroom while I'm at work. Granted, I'm only gone for about 6 hours or so, but he has become very good about holding it for that period of time. Isn't this wonderful! And when I walk in - the first thing we do is go outside, and he pees immediately. So, we are beginning to make progress - finally!!! And, I am sure a lot of it is simply his age --- and, because he's older, he has better bladder control.

I'm sure a lot of us expect too much too soon with these little guys. They are just too young and (like a baby) pee frequently. It certainly is much easier at my house now that my pup doesn't pee so often.

BUT - I'm sure that we should continue gentle potty training from a young age on... it's just that it takes a while and a few months before it all starts coming together.

Good luck!
