Do you "explain" to them that that's an incorrect term, or do you just small politely and say "She's a Yorkie". I'm often asked when at PetSmart if Bella is a teacup. I don't want to be impolite but at the same time, I don't want to promote ignorance.

I don't act offended and I don't think people are ignorant b/c they ask. The word teacup is all over the place. I just explain that Shelby is on the small side but Yorkies are in the toy group and the standard is under 7lbs. average 4-7 lbs.

If people go on and on about wanting a tiny one, I tell them the safest way to find a healthy small one. I can understand wanting a small one. I did.
