When we adopted our daughter the only place she would sleep was on me. Even with that said she never slept in our bed. I slept with her on the couch and she laid on top of me, we did that for 2 weeks and I had enough of that. We worked for about a week and a half on getting her to sleep in her bed, and she became a much better sleeper in her bed. This past summer we had a cricket problem with her, they were so loud that she was afraid to sleep in her room, to get her to stay in there I would lay in her room with her until she fell asleep, then I would leave.
I don't personally agree with having her sleep in our bed on a daily basis.
We do let her sleep with 1 on us, when we go upstate to our cabin or when we go camping. And she knows that it is a special treat and she IS going to sleep in her bed when we get home.
