I don't think the point is that they will NEVER grow out of it, but I think what I was trying to say, was that it creates other behavioral problems and they might not grow out of it for a long time. Personally I wouldn't want my husband and I to be hostages of our children for 7-8 years until they grow out of it and sleep in their own beds. My intimacy with my husband would be WAY more important than my kids feeling the need to sleep in our bed, when they have a perfectly good bed of their own. So I guess I wouldn't want my hubby to sleep on the couch because my kids refuse their own bed.
