When we got Reagan the breeder was using the pads with them and she put them in the biggest cat littler box she could find without using the top. I put mine in a storage box meant to go under a bed (We don't use the pads anymore though). This way your pup won't accidentally walk off the pad or think they are on it b/c their front feet are. I think I also saw a box made specifically for pads at petsmart. If you have a problem with them coming close but not actually on the pad you can try putting them in some sort of box, it really did work for us when we were using the pads.
