It is not usual for pups to die at that age..it may be due to Fading Puppy Syndrome. It could have been due to a number of congential problems. If it was a viral illness, it ususally goes through a litter..but without an necropsy, who knows. A vet can due a necropsy and not fidn any cause for death also.
Since you will not be getting your pup for quite some time, and by then it will have a health check, I see no reason not to get it if you have good references on the breeder.
