I am sure they know. When I was younger my grandmother had a peke. Whenever he was in the car and we turned on a certain road towards the vet, he started whining and going nuts. I am sure he knew.
Gypsy does not like riding in the car much cause mostly she has just went to the vet. She gets nervous in the car now.
