Ugh! Tank does this all the time! I'm doing my best to get him to learn to "come" but he only does it when he feels like it. We're also on 4 acres, but the other day he went all the way around the house...ooo I was so mad. He still woudl't come so I walked up the steps and stood inside watching him through the door. He decided that he might not get in if he didn't come then so he came running up the steps and was standing there until I opened the door for him.
It's funny that you called your's a little monster because when I get sick of hearing myself yell "TANK" I find myself calling "come here little monster"
I hope he learns soon...
