I would defenitely recommend getting him used to his nails being trimmed more people run into probs with that than any. I use a comb for rats and you can get a wire brush with the balls on the end. I am just now growing my yorkies hair out..i've always kept them short..so i'm sure some others will have some good advice for you..one thing i have learned recently (wish i would of learned this sooner) is spray your dog with some grooming spray or mist with water..never brush a dry coat..it makes the hair break..
