When a dog has a very rewarding experience (or a pleasant one that is repeated until it becomes very rewarding) it stores the sights, sounds, scents, tastes and textures of the environment in its long-term memory
Thats why they can remember us.scent and enviorment and our voice.
Its their short term memory that only last 5-10 minutes.Tests conducted by the University of Michigan concluded that while a dogs memory lasts no more than five minutes, a cat's can last as long as 16 hours ..
