That woman was just rude, not to mention a poor businesswoman. Even if she were to make the sale, sending your customers home feeling bad does not make a return customer.
One time at Petsmart this nosey woman working the cat adoption station came up and practically berated me for taking such a tiny puppy out on a leash in a public place where she could get sick. Little did she know, Ginger had had all her shots and was older than what that woman assumed. I ignored her and moved on to another isle. As I was walking away I heard someone inform her that Ginger was a Yorkshire terrier and probably wouldn’t get much bigger. I was fired up for a good while though afterwards, thinking about all the things I should have told her but didn’t.
So yes, I can understand if you’re offended; I would be too.
