Our little Magic was only 3 pounds when we had her spayed at 6 months, but she did not have to stay overnight....we used a clinic that allowed them to go home at that night. (instead of our regular vet that made them stay overnight unsupervised) I agree with those above...do all the extra lab work and make sure they use the isoflorin (sp?) gas. Magic had a harder time the first day or so than Sailor who was about 5 pounds at the time of her spay....but all in all things went good.
Edited to add....Isoflorin (sp?) is a gas product that is easier on the pups than the normal injection type medication.....I have heard there are less reaction and problems after surgery.
