I immediately googled if that toad or any poisonous amphibians was in my area since I get a lot of frogs and toads on my deck in the warmer weather after a rain fall. Thankfully no poisonous amphibians in my neck of the woods.
Many years ago I had a cousin that lived in Fl. his Poodle swallowed a small frog that became stuck in the pups throat, the pup died of suffocation.
For that reason in spring and summer before I let Cody out, I check the deck area for frogs and toads. This boy would snap it up in a heart beat. |
Yes, I will never forget when Sandy went through that. Awful.
Terrible for your cousin....I just cannot imagine going through something like that.
I had a foster that ate a few garden toads in my yard.....sickening but harmless. My pups now pretty much leave them alone but they love the anoles in my plants. I have to be watchful. It won't hurt them but I feel awful for the poor little lizards. The past couple of days I have had to chase down three in my house because I brought plants in from the cold. I thankfully saved them from my little terrors.
