My little Emmy was diagnosed with liver shunt 2/25/06 and had surgery at UT on 3/01/06 against my vet's advise. He wanted to keep her on a low protein diet and meds since he did not have much success with surgery. After researching and talking to people on the liver shunt chat group - I decided I did not want to keep a band aid on her problem--I wanted her fixed. It has been less than three weeks and Emmy is doing very well. She is getting stronger every day. I could see a difference in her two days after surgery.
