I tend to agree with this. Toddlers and small puppies aren’t a good combination. Artie won’t be a toddler for long, though, so it might be best to put off getting another puppy for a couple of years. That will give you plenty of time to find a good breeder and to save your pennies toward the right purchase.
On Molli, since you say she hated Taco and rarely played with him, it’s more likely that she’s reflecting your unhappiness over Taco’s departure than that she’s depressed Taco is gone. Give her plenty of love and attention, and she will be fine. And she’s a much better dog to teach Artie to be a good dog owner than a puppy would be.
