They have built in alarm clocks that go off the same time every day lol. Animals are creatures of habit, if you start doing or giving things at a certain time everyday, it becomes a habit, they know what time it is, and if you don't give or do at that time, they let you know.

8PM in our house is treat time, Cody must go through all his commands and tricks before he gets that treat lol. He starts whining at 7:50, I tell him it's not time, you have to wait, boy how he hates the "you have to wait" lol. So for 10 minutes I get stared at lol, 8PM he's up in my face lol, ok, it's show time lol.

Or they force you to create new habits. I took Duchess out at different times of the day depending on the weather and how I feel every day....never really a set time. She now insist that I take her out every day at noon........on her schedule not mine
