It is my experience that our little ones are amazingly able to be in touch with our emotions, and they absolutely "grieve". Our two lost their "big brother" two weeks ago, and are still more clingy than usual. They climb up into our laps anytime we sit down, and they "tap" our hand/arm to make sure that we know they want to be petted. I am sure that Fabian senses your husband's unhappiness, and he is trying to comfort him. Bless their little hearts!
