You really kinda have to nip this in the butt now before it becomes bigger issues. My aunt did not so now her dog cries and screams if she can't pick her up. Callie used to want to be picked up all the time too especially during storms and it seems to have made her more fearful of them. I am a fan of putting puppies at night in their crate where they can see you at least until they are potty trained and are not where they will get into things that could really hurt them. Yes it can be miserable the first 2 weeks. Its very important though that a dog be crate trained so when they are at the vet for getting fixed or tests they are used to the crate as encase of emergency's. You can also build confidence by training like right now sit, stay, lay down and move to bigger tricks as they get older.
