I have 3 children, ages 10, 8 and 5. My Tinkerbell and my children get along, but the 5 year old I don't really let him "play" with her because I am afraid he might have some type of accident I'll regret. I make sure he is suppervised around Tinkerbell. I do think Yorkies and children can get along as long as the children are taught to respect their size.
