Keeping you and Thumper in my prayers for all to go smoothly and for the lump to be benign. A lot of bumps do turn out to be nothing. Max has had cysts, including something looked like a BB pellet under his skin near his 'armpit.' That one lasted over a year and then disappeared.
Another YT member's girl has had numerous biopsies. All turned out benign.
I think Thumper will be okay having a dental at the same time. My boys both had their first dental last year at age 9. I was so nervous! They sailed through it like it was nothing.
