We've been told to cut back to 1/4 cup of kibble, twice a day and replace the bully sticks (which he eats, not just gnaws on) with Nylabone. Fabian already gets tons of exercise, so there's not much more we can do on that front.
Any other tips and what is a safe rate of weight loss for Yorkies?
Thank you. |
If you're looking for Fabian to loose 2 1/2 pounds it will be a long process, for a dog that is a lot of weight to loose. My guy had to loose 2 pounds. Ounces per month is a slow but safe weight loss. One or two ounces a month may not sound like it's enough, unlike humans dogs cannot loose weight fast like humans do. It took 18 months for my boy to loose 2 pounds. He would loose one to two ounces a month.
