DSKeeter -

Pitbulls are wonderful, loving, especially affectionate pets - but can be trained to be very mean and aggressive.

I think most of us regard our little Yorkies as predominately house dogs. Very few of us (unless we have an absolutely safe fenced yard) would ever let these little guys out - and never around other dogs. There are two dogs in my neighborhood that visit regularly with my Yorkie - they are small, and he is absolutely safe with them, but I certainly never let him near a dog I don't know. And, since I don't have a fenced yard, he is never out unless he is on a leash being carefully watched by me. Any dogs around - I'd be carrying him.

Accidents happen - but I wouldn't be worrying much about a pitbull in my neighborhood because my pup would never be around it. We go out several times a day - and I am watching him every second. If another dog was running around (one I was worried about) - we'd just go in the house and go out again later.

I would think also that you must have leash laws and laws saying that dogs can't run freely where you live. I would take advantage of these laws and make sure the little pitbull stays in his own yard.

I am hoping that you might be overreacting a little - and the pitbull will not turn out to be a mean little dog. Still, your pup should never be around him.

A pitbull in my neighborhood make me move ---- never!!!!!!!! If he were a real threat --- he'd be moving before I do!
