Agreed. Our surgeon recommended as last option. Said basically that he’s not aware of any pup that has lived longer than 3 years after surgery, so in essence you are setting a countdown clock if you elect to do it. Our Sophie had a collapsing trachea and we were hesitant to have it done because we couldn’t bear to think of losing her in three years. A year later, last New Years Eve, she died suddenly from cardiac arrest, brought on by ARDS, a result of an undiagnosed enlarged heart and pulmonary edema, caused by her trachea. In retrospect, we would have given anything for two more years.
