Of course, many places do not have no-kill shelters but the fact is, they are more likely to be adopted . i went to my local Animal shelter's website and there was 5 pages of eligible dogs for adoption, i counted 18 dogs before I got to a non pit bull. I would say 95% of the dogs available are pit bulls or pitbull type dogs. And then there are the "boxer mixes" which are probably pitbull mixes. No one is dna testing these dogs so they are basically guessing.

I know some may think what I wrote was harsh but until you have seen a otherwise friendly, loving pitbull try and nearly succeed in dragging another dog through a chain link fence by the face, you can not understand, and these dogs were raised together and friendly towards each other.

What set them off was a tree cutter in a tree a few yards over. One of the dogs was barking because he was a stranger and then the other dog started barking and the dog just snapped and went after the other dog because he could not get to the tree cutter. It was brutal, bloody, and savage and after they were literally beaten apart, they were wagging tails like it never happened. I just imagine what it be like if a child, a human being was on the receiving end of that or a little yorkie.....

I get the pit bull thing completely. I think sometimes something just snaps in them. I have issues with a different breed more then pits but I don't necessarily trust either one. I think they have to be trained and significant considerations need to be take. They need to stop being over bred too. I know several people who have pits because they are considered controversial and only for that reason and never train them and are an issue waiting to happen.
