This doesn't sound like an 'emotional' problem at all - this sounds like this baby is in pain; possibly having to do with anal gland issues or GI issues. Did you ever switch foods during this time? I would get him to a vet ASAP. Any time you see inappetance in a dog, it's meaningful - and the isolating is usually a pain signal.
