This past Friday my two yorkies, Jethro&Astro, were playing in the yard while I watered the plants. After coming inside, about 10-15 minutes later, I noticed one was rubbing against the couch in an odd manner. When I picked him up I felt bumps on his chest...his chest and underbelly were covered in hives and he had one swollen eye, and a swollen muzzle. He was also panting excessively. I gave him some benadryl and took him to emergency where they gave him a cortisone shot to reduce the swelling. Thank goodness he was back to his normal spunky self within a couple of hours. But we have NO idea what caused this reaction. I had a similar incident just a few months ago at our previous home while indoors with my other yorkie. I'm very concerned because it happened to both my boys at two different locations. I had my first yorkie for 12 years and never once went through this. Has anyone else's pups have a similar reaction and if so what caused it?
