It's not generally a big deal. Unless puppies I normally kept all the rescues we had with the same name except Penny because I absolutely hated her name. She kinda picked her name though, we were calling out names in the car and she reacted to Penny. We rescued a lab mix when I was 8 and her name was Hank, they thought she was a boy but we just kept it.
