Joan is right. Because humans rely on the spoken language, a name change is harder on us than the furkid. Especially when you really need to remember . Dogs, on the other hand, communicate primarily through body language and scent, not the spoken language. As long as the name change is associated with "happy" then it shouldn't take long at all to learn a new name. After all most of our furkids respond to a multitude of names - my Lollieop responds equally to being called Lollie, LaLa, Lollers, Pretty Girl, and of course the universal "name" Wanna Treat?
