My husband and I have registered our AKC dogs, but they have all been pets, and we never intended to breed them. Therefore we have been rather whimsical with our selections, and were even made to correct the name of our first registered dog.
We had a mini schnauzer whom we named "Big Lucky King of the Dogs".
Apparently you may not use the word "dog" in an AKC name, so he became "Big Lucky King of the Canines" (aka Lucky).
Jim named our parti, who looked scruffy as a pup, Tyrone and we registered him with that single name. He is full of energy, and loves to rough house with my husband, and has lived up to the name even though he has a full coat, and an "elegant" look.
When I received our little black/tan yorkie as a special 65th birthday present, I decided to put a more cuddly name into the universe. Therefore he became "Mommy's Sweet Baby Gus". At two and a half years old, he lives up to that name, and he is sitting with me now giving me puppy kisses!
I would suggest that you have fun with his moniker. You can take a little time to know your little one's personality, and take it from there!
