Strongyloides stercoralis is found in dogs and humans (and is transferable). Strongyloides canis is just found in dogs. If they can't identify the species via scope - then they'd have to grow out in culture for 10-14 days to see which species Maggie has.
The only thing you can really do is wash your hands often, scoop any feces immediately from your yard, wash her bedding and toys etc.
