Yes - totally correct that you should never, ever give steroid in the eye until it's confirmed the eye issue is not due to a corneal scratch.
I don't know if the groomer uses a drier box--I'll inquire before the next time she is groomed, and if they do, I will tell them what happened and ask what can be done to prevent eye damage in the future. The ironic thing is that there is a Banfield Vet Clinic right next to the groomer room. They should know better.
